Catherine Zouganeli

With a BA from the Faculty of English Language and Literature of the University of Athens, she has carried out her postgraduate studies at the Centre for English Language Teacher Education of the University of Warwick in England, focusing on Testing and Evaluation. Recently, she attended a postgraduate course in Open and Distance Learning offered by the Hellenic Open University. She has taught English for many years in primary and secondary schools, in general and vocational education.  She is a tutor for the Postgraduate Programme for English Language Teacher Education of the Hellenic Open University and a Deputy Counselor of the Department of Evaluation and Teacher Training at the Pedagogical Institute of the Ministry of National Education. She has contributed to the development of the system for the State Certificate of Foreign Language Proficiency and to the implementation of the examinations for English. Her main interest lies in the training of teachers of English and her publications refer to issues of didactics and assessment. She has represented the Ministry of Education at the European Commission, participating in the group of experts for the European Year of Language 2001 (2000-2002), as well as in the group of experts for the implementation of the Action Plan on linguistic diversity and foreign language policies (2002-May 2004).
