Dr Kia Karava

She is an Αssistant Professor in the Department of Language and Linguistics of the Faculty of English Language and Literature at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She also tutor for the Hellenic Open University on the MA programme in ELT where she teaches the Course design and Evaluation module and coordinates the ELT technology module. She is also coordinator and co-author of material for open and distance learning of the Hellenic Open University. She is a graduate of the Faculty where she is currently teaching courses related to TEFL, and holds a doctorate from the University of Warwick where she specialized in the evaluation of ELT curricula and educational research methods. From 1994 to 1999 she was a lecture for the Centre for English Language Teacher Education University of Warwick where she taught postgraduate courses for EFL teachers and was responsible for the design and coordination of post-service teacher education courses funded by the British Council. She has experience in the evaluation of ELT programmes worldwide (Poland, UK, Tanzania) and has acted as co-organiser for a series of Pan European Conferences on the Teaching of Languages for Young Learners. Her research interests include curriculum/ programme evaluation, EFL didactics, educational research methods, teacher education and development. She has publications in these areas in local and international journals.
