Panos Fragkias

Panos Fragkias is a PhD candidate of the Department of Applied Linguistics at the Faculty of English Studies of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He holds an M.A. in Applied Linguistics and a B.A. in English Language and Literature from the same faculty, while his research interests involve studies in Cognitive Linguistics and persuasive strategies. His MA Thesis is entitled “A Corpus-Based Study of Financial Discourse Metaphors in English and Greek: Raising Students’ Metaphorical Awareness in the Treatment of Idiomaticity” while his PhD work is related to raising learners’ collocational awareness regarding persuasion. He has also attended the yearly specialization in Special Education, Speech Therapy and Counseling, offered by the faculty of Primary Education. Panos has been working as an EFL instructor since 2005 and is currently working as a research assistant at the Research Centre for Language Teaching, Testing, and Assessment (RCeL) of the University of Athens and participates in the preparation of the pen & paper and computer-based KPG exams for English. Finally, Panos is a KPG oral examiner and an independent user of French and Italian.
