The European Language Monitor
http://www.efnil.org/projects/elm

The European Language Monitor (henceforth ELM) aims to provide a rich empirical basis for the development and evaluation language policies at a national and supranational, European level. It is conceived as an online system to collect data and provide detailed up-to-date information on the linguistic situation and its development in the various member states of the European Union and possibly also of other European countries. As a long-term aim, ELM should provide longitudinal information on the linguistic development of Europe and its member states. The data being collected and presented by the ELM includes domains that relate directly or indirectly to linguistic status planning, acquisition planning, and corpus planning in the individual countries. The RCeL staff has participated in the development of the tool for the collection and organisation of data provided by national language institutes, Ministries and other research centres and organisations for language and language planning in the EU Member States.
